Dream Team CAS Challenge

Welcome back for week 2 of the CAS (clean and simple) challenge. For the challenge this week I used the Hula Girl (LM 273) and the Thank You's stencil (LJ 894) and Matte Black Paste (DMBP). I found this lovely new paper by Graphic 45 (one of my all time favorite paper companies), this one is from the collection Tropical Travelogue and is call Hibiscus Heaven. I even like the back which as tiny peach and ivory bubbles. I found some card stock that complimented the hibiscus paper to make my card. I then used my Hula Girl stencil and after taping the stencil down on all four sides pasted her with the Matte Black Embossing paste using a small piece of the card stock I pasted just the word Mahalo from the Thank you stencil. You can always use bits and pieces from a stencil by just taping out what you don't want. Now it's your turn to play, and while your at it send an e-mail with a picture to Lynell or link your creation to Mr. Linky on the Dream It Up blog. Dreamweaver Challenge : CAS

After the Dreamweaver Stencils' February challenge of St. Pat's or Green, are you a little tired of green? Then this month provides the opportunity of doing any color you wish...including green. However, you have to keep it clean...and simple! Yep. We are challenging you to create with your Dreamweaver products in a CAS style. This is our way of encouraging you to begin your "Spring Cleaning" a little early, and far more fun than sorting cupboards and washing windows!
I have loved this stencil since the moment I saw it. For today post I used The Tall Poppy (LL3023) and I wanted my card to have a soft quality to it so I decided to use Pan Pastels. These are artist grade and ultra soft. First I ran the Tall Poppy through my big kick to emboss it onto the cardstock, then leaving the stencil in place I added color to my poppy using a small stencil brush and the Pan Pastels. The colors I used were : Bright Yellow Green tint, Bright Yellow Green shade, Orange and Orange shade. I used a light orange card stock and used a green layer underneath the image, I punched on side of the green paper using a Martha Stewart border punch, I added a couple of pearl embellishments and I was done. Clean and Simple just my style.

GO GREEN OR GO BRAGH

This is our last challenge for February and I hope some of you have been playing along. I have to say that as much as I love green and St. Patty's day I will be glad to move on to a new challenge. Next month's challenge is CAS (clean and simple) this is great for me because that's how I like to work. Any way for this last challenge I used LL345 (square knot) and LS58 (shamrock) this celtic knot was one of the first stencils I ever bought. I started out by picking a mossy colored card stock and also a piece of white smooth card stock. There are so many green ink colors out there that this gives you a starting point. I used the shamrock and two colors of green ink to do the background layer. the colors I used were Stampin Up's Mellow Moss and Tim Holtz Distress ink - Iced Spruce. I used a 1/2 inch stenciling brush to apply the color with the shamrock stencil notice I did this in a random way overlapping some of the shamrocks or only using half or trailing some off the edge. When I was done was this I used the brush and the Mellow Moss around the edge of the white card. I also did this around the edge of the mossy colored card stock although it is much more subtle. on a 3x3 piece piece of moss card stock I pasted the square knot with metallic gold paste and set it aside to dry. Around the shamrocks I used a Spica Gold Glitter Pen from Copic and I edged each card with G99 olive green. I added a ribbon which I tied in a square know then popped the square knot off with pop dots. There you go clean and simple. Now go to the Dream It UP! blog and add your creation by using Mr. Linky if you don't have a URL you and e-mail your creation to Lynell and she will get it onto the blog. It had been real hard to stay at my desk this week because the San Francisco bay area has been enjoying extremely beautiful spring like weather. Dreamweaver Challenge for February: Going Green or St. Patty's Day

For today's post I wanted to keep it simple, because I just got my art room back and I've been busy setting up. I decided to use the Retro Sitting Kitty (LL3020) and the Big Dot Background (LX 7011). I dry embossed the kitty on white card stock by running it through my big shot and I did the Big dots in the same manner on green card stock. I then added color to the kitty by placing the stencil over the embossed image and using a small stenciling brush I brushed in Adirondack's Willow, once done with that I added Citrus in to areas where I wanted shading. Then sliding a cross stitch screen (SC) underneath I added Adirondack Lettuce just on the tummy, the top of the head and the back leg and base of the tail. The big dot background was done the same way with the same colors only using a 1/2 in stencil brush. I added some twine and a button for my embellishments and to green rhinestones for the eyes.

Dreamweaver Challenge for February: Going Green or St. Patty's Day

Well it's Thursday again and this month the challenge is st. Patty's Day or green and in this card I used both. I have a lot of paper thatI have been storing for that perfect card or layout and so I went to my stash and found this great paper from Best Creations. It was different shades of green, had shamrocks and glitter on it what more could a girl ask for. So using that as my jumping off point, I then got out my Shamrock Stencil (LS58 ). the paper I used for my shamrocks is from bazzill basics. I rouged in color using a large 1/2 inch stencil brush and Momento New Sprout and Bamboo Leaves ink. Next I pasted the shamrock in White glossy paste towards the top and then I sprinkled it with green glitter while it was still wet. Then I pasted the two stencils at the bottom using regular embossing paste when that was dry I then used Versacolor Sage and Olive , and Ultra Thick embossing powder to do a Faux Cloisonne look.

When I was done I layered it all together and Voila! a beautiful card for and Irish friend. Last month we had a few people play along with out challenge, all those people are winning the 2 stencils shown on the Dream It UP blog go there to find out what they are. Dreamweaver Challenge for February: Going Green or St. Patty's Day

For my first post I decided to use the new Pointed Celtic Knot (Lg742) that was released at CHA. The first thing I did was to take glossy paper and marble it using Color Solutions Citron, Pine Bough and Blending solution. When it was dry I pasted the Celtic Knot with Silver Metallic Paste and then when that was dry I leafed it with silver leaf. I then layered the green on black card stock. I layered the black on silver card stock and hand wrote the Irish blessing around the outside and the last line in the center of the knot. I layered it all onto a green card. Sneak Peak #5

My stencil that I used today is the same one I used yesterday but instead of glitter I used Pan Pastels. I was turned onto this wonderful art product by my sister dream team member, Kristi. The first time I saw a card she had done using them I was hooked.

First I took some light blue card stock and ran it through my Big Shot with the Flower Quatrefoil stencil (LX 7009 ) I then added color with the Pan Pastels using my small 1/4 in stencil brushes. I used orange and orange shade. I love the contrast of orange and blue. I then found a complimentry card stock and pasted the new Thank You stencil (LS 1009) in blue ( a mixture made from regular paste and Navajo Sky metallic F/X). The centers of the flowers are blue Pan Pastels and then I added a highlight by using a clear rhinestone just slightly off center. A simple and easy card to do. Well I'm off to CHA tomorrow and hopefully we will all get some great inspiration. I can't wait to meet my Dream Teams sisters and promote the greatest company Dreamweaver Stencils. Dreamweaver Sneak Peek #4

My stencil that I used on this card is the Flower Quatrefoil (LX 7010). The moment I saw this background I knew I was going to love it. For todays card I taped down the stencil on all four sides, and the using the Glossy Blue Embossing Paste pasted the image I also on a seperate piece of card stock pasted the Happy Birthday using the same Glossy Blue paste. I removed the stencils and then while they were wet sprinkled them with Glitter Ritz micro fine glitter in Ice Blue and Deep Purple. mounted them on teal card stock and them added a teal tulle bow say that 3 times fast.LOL then using some mounting tape popped the happy birthday off the front right corner. As you can see this was a fairly easy technique to do, the hardest thing about this card was letting it dry with out touching it. Dreamweaver Sneak Peek #3

For today's post I decided to use the open butterfly (LG740) and the Art Nouveau Flourish (LJ191) I did a combination of things with this stencil. First on a piece of ivory card stock I stenciled the body of the butterfly using Glossy Black paste. Then when that was dry I taped over half the butterfly and using a sludge technique pasted half the butterfly and while it was wet I sprinkled glitter on the wings. then when that was dry I did the other side using the same technique. once it was all dry I cut out the butterfly. SinceI basically flunked kindergarten cutting I accidentally cut off the antenna. I put together the paper layers I wanted a really nice blue from Bazzill Basics and a patterned paper from Basic Grey I stenciled the body with black glossy paste and the stenciled the flourish at the bottom. When that was dry I used double sided mounting tape to pop the butterfly off the paper and now my butterfly had it's antenna back. There is so much you can do with this stencil I know your going to just love having it, don't forget to tell your local retailer so they can order at CHA. Oh I almost forgot to tell you how I mixed these colors, I used regular embossing paste, I mixed some with Metallic F/X Glacier Blue and the other was with Metallic F/X Sapphire.

CHA is coming up and the Dream Team is bringing you sneak peeks all this week of the new designs being unveiled at CHA. The new stencil in this deign is the Paisley Background (LX7009) I fell in love with this background when I used it for this valentine card. The technique used here is the Double Glitter technique. I used Glitter Ritz Microfine Glitter: Fire Red and Stampendous Crystal Glitter for the background color.

Dreamweaver Free Challenge week

This week I decided to do a double glitter technique using the dangling heart stencil(LM 272). to do this technique I used double-sided mounting paper (DSMP). the first thing I did was to remove one sided of the double sided paper and attach it to cardstock, then I soaped up the back of stencil with coconut vegatable soap (DHHS) this is done so the stencil can be removed easily from the sticky paper. once the stencil is placed on the other side of the mounting paper then using a waterfall method I spooned silver glitter onto one heart then the other. Once that was done I filled in the the string with fire red glitter. I removed the paper from the stencil and used crystal glitter for the background, then I trimmed the edges of the paper. The card is silver metallic paper from Stardream I then layered on a glitter heart paper from POW made by American Crafts. I tied flourish red ribbon around the card. The glittered image was layered onto the same silver and then onto dark red cardstock. I used mounting tape to pop the image off the card. As you see another CAS card. I had a lot of fun making this card because I love glitter, you know everwhere, table, floor, clothes and glasses. So when I work with glitter I usually make several cards. Dreamweaver Free Challenge week

Well Thursday is upon us once again. This is a free week and I decided to continue with another valentine card. I will be teaching this card in a class I'm teaching at Scrapbook Territory and at Jazzy Crafts. I like to keep my cards for classes fairly simple so that my students can get the techniques down but still have a card to send at the end of class. I started with a brown note card (Vanilla Bean) from Memory Box,and then used this great paper from Canvas Corp "Cherry and Kraft Love words". I simply ran the Swooshy Heart Stencil (LL3010) through my Big Shot and then I cut it out, punched a hole in the top and made a bow on the top with brown tulle and then I used some mounting tape to pop it off the love words layer. This is a CAS card fun to do with no stress involved. Because I work a full time job in the dentist office I find that for me CAS is the best way to go. For those of you who like you can add more of your own embellishments. I do often add rhinestone and glitter bling but I really felt on this one I loved the way it looked with out all the added bling. Thursday Dream Scheme's Happy New Year

Welcome to the first posting of the Dreamweaver Stencils' Dream Team 2012 ! We're changing things up a bit for this year, and YOU can help. The first Thursday of every month will feature our new challenge and will extend through the entire month. This means that YOU have ALL month to play along with the one challenge, as many times as you want. Sometimes it will be a color challenge, sometimes a theme, and sometimes a technique. We are hoping that an entire month will give you plenty of time to be inspired, create, and link to the Dream It Up! blog . Each month we are offering TWO prizes...one for the most creative version of the challenge (does not have to be Dreamweaver Stencils ' product, but we sure are happy when it is!), and the second for the best use of Dreamweaver Stencils ' product in the challenge. This could be stencils (of course), Embossing Pastes , Metallic F/X , the new Color Solutions , etc., anything you find on the Dreamweaver Stencils' web site , or in your local store. For the month of January, we challenge you to create something for Valentine's Day! You have until January 31st, 11:59 PM EST, to post and link your creation(s) to the Dream It Up! Blog Mr. Linky. The winners will be announced February 2nd, along with the February challenge. Here is my version of this month's challenge:

This week I chose the Heart Lock stencil (LG 672) I really like this stencil for Valentines because it's not so girly looking. I used Kraft paper for the base card and then I cut a piece of burgundyish card stock about 2 inches wide and then border punched the edge with a Martha Stewart a scalloped edge punch. I then cut a 3 inch strip of this really neat paper from Canvas Corp called Cherry and Kraft Hearts. I layered these pieces onto my Kraft Card.

Now on another piece of kraft card stock I used the Heart lock stencil and pasted with Gold Metallic embossing paste(DGP), then removed the stencil and let it dry. When the paste was dry I repositioned the stencil over the paste and with a stencil brush and I picked up some Pallette Stick and Stamp Glue and added glue to some areas on the gold paste, removed the stencil and heated the glue with my heat gun. Then I took some left over pieces of Variegated Red Leaf (VRL) and added those to the gold paste. I kind of wanted the gold to look old and vintage so I then replaced the stencil again and I added some Color Solutions Creme Brulee (CS 106) to some other areas of the gold paste. On the close up picture the background show up looking kind of green but the full photo is actually the true color. Thursday Dream Scheme's Happy New Year

This has been a busy week for me so I kept my design clean and simple. I started by picking out my paper I used a nice teal color from Coordinations and then I found some handmade paper that had pieces of gold metallic threads. I realized as I started to look at my stencils that I really don't have anything for New Year's so I decided to improvise. I used the Swirl Background stencil (LJ863 ). I used Brillance Galaxy gold. ink with a 1 1/4 stencil brush and brushed in the color on three of the corners. Then I took a piece of my teal card stock and the Celebrate stencil (LS90). I used Gold Metallic paste for the Celebrate and set it aside to dry. While I was waiting for the celebrate to dry I layered the handmade paper onto the teal card stock, wrapped the card with light teal tulle and then I added 2012 by using Thickers "rainboots" glitter stickers. Now I cut the celebrate to the size I wanted and then layered it onto a piece of gold card stock I used foam mounting tape to pop it off the upper left corner. Like I said clean and simple.

Burgundy and Gold Dreamweaver Challenge

I really love this card. I love the rich color I was able to get in the background. I started out with the nativity stencil (LL3019) which I pasted in Metallic Gold on burgundy paper. While that was drying I got out the new Color Solutions alcohol inks that Dreamweaver has just released. Using a felt tool and felt from Ranger Industries I put a squeeze of Creme Brulee and Gold on the felt then I put just a drop of Darkest Brown and some of the thinner. I applied this to glossy card stock by twisting and turning the tool as I was applying the color, when I finished putting the color on I then went back with a little more thinner which gives it a marble look. Alcohol ink dries fairly quickly so I was able to use the Prince of Peace stencil (LX7004) right away and that was also pasted with Metallic Gold paste. I then layer everything onto gold card stock. As you can tell by my recent post I tend to be a clean and simple card maker. Congratulations to the new Dream Team members and I hope you have as much fun as the rest of us are. Sketch Challenge with a Vintage theme.

This week's challenge was a hard one for me, because I really don't do vintage much. I started by picking out a piece of vintage looking paper from Graphic 45. I then decided to use the holly flourish stencil (LG 731) which I pasted on white card stock with Gold Metallic paste. I then pasted Merry Christmas (LS 92) in glossy green paste on a piece of kraft paper. When the green paste was dry I distressed the edges of the paper with Ranger distress ink Walnut Stain. I added some red tulle, and Ivory embellishment pin dipped it gold glitter and a felt flower.

Dreamweaver Free Challenge week

I love the Christmas season and while I'm just getting started with my decorating our little neighbor hood is in full swing. I don't know why but I always think of snow when the season starts, however the last time it snowed in Castro Valley I was 8 yrs old and that was a very long time ago. For today's post I chose to showcase one of my favorite stencils, the Antelope Snowflake (LL399).

I also used the Swirl background stencil (LJ 863).

The first thing I did was pick out the notecard color I wanted to use, this is a Memory Box notecard and the color is called Thistle, the color is kind of a gray green. After choosing the color I decided on the background stencil because the swirls remind me of how snow might fall. I started by using the Tim Holtz tool with blending foam and rouging in one of his new seasonal distress inks called Iced Spruce then when I had that done I took one of my large stencil brushes and added a little of the other new distress ink call Evergreen Bough. I wanted my snowflake to have that Thistle color so I started with Regular Embossing paste and added Glacier Blue metallic F/X this colors the paste a beautiful turquoise color so then I added just a pinch if Ivy Garden metallic F/X and got just the color I was looking for. You will notice that one side of the snowflake appears lighter then the other and this is because I used a sludge technique. While the paste was still wet I sprinkled a little crystal glitter on it to give the snowflake some sizzle. When the snowflake was dry I used my large stencil brush and just brushed in a little bit of the iced spruce distress ink around the edge of the card. I backed the layered background and the image with a darker card stock and the using mounting tape popped the snowflake off the background. This is a very clean and simple card to do, my very favorite kind of card. I urge you to play with the regular embossing paste and the Metallic F/X and see what colors you can come up with. Turquoise and Silver Dream Scheme Colorway

This colorway was really a challenge for me this week. With this colorway I would have used the snowflake or the ice skates but I've already used them in the last two posts and I really wanted to use a different stencil. So as I was looking through my stencils I found this stencil (LL3019) Nativity. I used the Dreamweaver Silver Metallic Paste on turquoise card stock and then sprinkled it with crystal glitter. I then took a piece of glossy card stock and used Color Solutions, the new artist grade alcohol inks just released, and did a marbling effect for the background layer.

I added silver card stock behind both layers and the layered it all onto a turquoise card. I then add some turquoise tulle to the card. It is a different look for a card I would send for Christmas but I have to say I really like it. Check out the rest of the links to the right to see what my Dream Team sisters have come up with. Happy Thanksgiving Dreamweaver Dream Scheme

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone. Today for me is a day of gratitude and thanks for all the blessings in my life, my family and friends. While here in California we don't have the distinct seasons that the East Coast and Midwest have, I have noticed the crisp mornings and the way the Japanese maple in my backyard has turned a beautiful fiery red. I chose to use this week the Leaf Icon stencil (LL471) and the Thank You 2 stencil (LM147) . I pasted these with Gold Metallic Paste (DGP). The paper I used was some paper I received in a kit from Club Scrap and has a lightly embossed paisley pattern in it. I was originally going to gold leaf the leaves but as the paste dried I noticed how the paste picked up the pattern in the paper, so I decided to leave it just as it was. Then I layered the papers onto brown card stock and then the background paper I found not to long ago. This card is really simple, but that's my style. I wish all of you a blessed Thanksgiving and a creative holiday.

Thursday Dream Scheme's - Sketch Challenge

I love winter, here in the East Bay Area we really don't ever get snow. However I do enjoy going to the mountains every once and awhile to spend some time in the snow. I love how quiet and pristine it gets. This week our sketch challenge is from Wendy ( she comes up with the greatest challenges). I started by layering Navy blue card stock onto silver card stock. I used the antelope snowflake stencil(LL399), the sm. snowflake stencil(LS26) and the Winter stencil (LM296). On the navy blue card stock I glue down a strip of snowflake glitter paper from American Crafts POW collection. I then pasted the snowflakes with Silver Metallic paste on the navy background. I cut a small piece of silver card stock, then pasted the word winter using regular embossing paste mixed with Sapphire Metallic F/X. I added some crystal glitter while the paste was still wet. I let everything dry and then layered everything together. I added 3 crystal rhinestones.

Free Callenge Thursday Dream Scheme

Today I chose a card that I truly love and am teaching this weekend in two of my classes. It uses the new Color Solutions alcohol inks that Lynell has just released. To start I used glossy paper and then used a marbling technique with the alcohol inks. The ink colors were Blue velvet, Iceburg and Thistle, I slso used the thinner/ cleaner solution after I got the main color on. As you can see this technique gives you some great background contrasts. The stencil(x7004) also a fairly new release was perfect for this technique. To paste this I used the paste threader(LM2010) it gives a great smooth application for these larger stencils. I used White Glossy Paste to paste with, it takes a while to set, so set it aside and go do something else for a few hours so you don't do what I do and smear your card. Anyway once it was dry I simply layered it onto Lavender Star Dream card stock. I kept looking at it all day to see what embellishments I might want to use, and finally decided it really stood on its own.

This card is so easy to do that I will be using it as one of my own x-mas cards this year.

Dreaming in Black and White

For My post today I added a little silver for some bling. I chose the Ornate Christmas Tree LX7003 that Lynell released at CHA I haven't used this stencil before, so I was excited to get it out and use it for this post. The technique I chose to use was one that I really enjoy using glossy paste and mica powders. The cardstock that I used for the image to be pasted on is called Ice Silver and has a silvery shimmer to it. I taped the stencil on all four sides then using the Paste Spreader (LM2010) and Black Glossy Paste (DGKP) I spread the paste over the stencil. The paste spreader does a great job giving you a nice even image. After I removed the stencil I sprinkled some Moonstone F/X (04) over some areas of the image. Once the paste dries and glossy paste takes some time, at least and hour unless you have a warming tray to use ( I have to set my images away or I'm constantly wanting to touch it). Then take a small piece of a Swiffer Sweeper and brush away the excess Metalllic F/X. If you look at the closeup picture you can see the spots of white on the black glossy paste, this is the fun part of this technique. I can be doing 10 of the same card but each one will be just a little different. I then cut down the image area and layered it on black card stock. I added a strip of silver glitter paper with snowflakes on the side and the used black tulle for the ribbon and last but not least I took one on the corsage pins( TIPI- ivory) that Lynell sells and used the new Sizzling Silver Color Solutions alcohol inks to paint the pearls silver and then added silver micro fine glitter from Glitter Ritz.

Dream Scheme Thursday-Free Challenge week

I'm starting to think about the upcoming holidays and the cool weather. I have this really fun blue polka dot glitter paper that I wanted to use so I chose the recently released ice skates (LL3017) this week challenge. I embossed the image by using my big shot. Then I rouged in Momento London Fog using a large 1/2 inch stencil brush(NHB 1/2) to add color to the skates. Then using a smaller stencil brush I stippled on glue (Palette Stamp and Stick Glue Pad)

and then sprinkled with Stampendous Crystal glitter. I then removed the stencil and rouged the corners with the 1/2 inch stencil brush and London Fog. I mounted this onto navy blue paper and then added a crocheted snowflake with a metallic blue brad.

This simple card has lots of glitz and will probably be the card I send out this Christmas.

Dreamweaver Colorway Challenge / Pink and Black

Pink and black are great colors to work with but I've been thinking Fall the last couple of weeks, so when I sat down to work on this challenge it took me a minute or two to come up with what I wanted to do. It all of a sudden came to me that this is Breast Cancer Awareness month and I have a kitchen full of cake pops that are being sold for a donation to Breast cancer research. Lynell released a Hope character during the summer CHA and I thought that would make a great card. So for all my friends who have fought this awful disease and survived this card is for you. I started with a black card I then layered the card with pink polka dot paper from DCWV and then I added a bow of black tulle. I know you would think I would assemble the card while my paste was drying but I was kind of in one of those backward moods. I then took Regular Embossing Paste and added Pink Blaze Metallic F/X to get a pretty color pink. I pasted the Hope Symbol (LL3018) with this mixture and let it dry. Then when it was dry I repositioned the stencil and daubed some glue over the top of the image (Palette Stamp and Stick Gluepad ) and brushed on the Pink Blaze Metallic F/X to add some shimmer. I used mounting tape to pop this layer and then added one of the cute hatpins that Dreamweaver sells for a little extra bling. This was a pretty simple card but fun to make.

Hi all ... I sorry this didn't get on my blog as early as it should. I'm here is Tucson Arizona for the week visiting with my mom and my sister. this card is one that I really enjoyed doing, t was one of the stencils I was given for a challenge. This stencil is one of the new backgrounds that was launched at CHA summer it's the triangle weave. I started by doing the bottom layer, I rouged in adirondack inks by ranger using lemonade, butterscotch, lettuce and eggplant. Once I had the color in I left the stencil in place and pasted with translucent paste, this paste gives the color a kind of tile look and really pops the color. Next I took another piece of paper and rouged in the same colors on this one however I did not do the paste, I took the celebrate stencil and pasted with black glossy paste. I then let everything dry while I picked out paper in shades that I liked for layering. Once the paste was dry I layered the card together and added a orange bow and pearl hat pin.

Wednesday class at Scrapbook Territory

Had such a great time on Wednesday with the 9 ladies who took my Faux Cross-stitch class. Everyone was able to finish 4 cards and most left with four or five more images to use to create cards. It was a really warm day but everyone seemed to have fun and they were a extremely creative bunch. I love when you show a technique and everyone takes off and adds there own creative touches. Dreamweaver Free Challenge week

I can't believe that it's the Fall Equinox already, that means Halloween is on the way. I love Halloween. So I thought it would be fun to show you all a card that I made with that thought in mind. I started with the OptoCheckerboard background using the double glitter technique. You really want to soap the back of the stencil well with vegetable soap ( Handmade Coconut Soap) I always take a small brush and use it to get any of the soap out of the holes in the stencil. Once this is done I place the stencil on double sided mounting paper then sprinkle black glitter ( Glitter Ritz) over the paper. Once I have done this I then remove the the stencil and sprinkle with crystal glitter. I then used the Jack O' Lantern (LL 531) stencil and used the sludge technique with Matte Orange and Matte Yellow paste. I let everything dry and then I layered it all together.Halloween is so much fun, carving pumpkins, candy and all the fun decorations not to mention the costumes. The picture above is one of my favorite costumes. That's my friend Terrece and I dressed up for Halloween. Don't we look fabulous. Designer Free Challenge Week

As fall is approaching in many area, the California bay area is just starting to really get some warm weather, it has been in the 80's and 90's this week, sure has felt good. I'm starting to think about the holiday cards now but here is one last tribute to summer that I will be teaching in a class I have coming up. The stencil I used is call the Hibiscus pair (LL478) and one of my favorite stencils. It is great for using with the Faux Crosstitch technique that I will be teaching in class. I started with a plain green notecard and added a couple of papers that coordinated with each other for the background. In this case the papers came from BoBunny's Barefoot and Bliss. I taped my stencil to white cardstock and then added light background colors with a stencil brush in this case light yellow and green, I then gently lifted the stencil and inserted the faux cross stitch screen underneath the stencil. Now I start adding darker color to give it the cross stitch look. I used one of the darker colors around the edge of the card and mounted it to a yellow layer of cardstock and popped it off the card. This card is simple, clean and easy.

This week the Dreamweavers design team is parting with the UK Woodware design team to show you innovative ways to use our wonderful Dreamweaver stencils and supplies. All week long watch as we use our stencils (which are fabulous for paper crafting ) in a whole new way. We have posts all week long starting Monday August 29th to September 3rd. Here's my entry for today:

I am definately a California Beach girl so I decided to do this cigar box with a beach theme that I will give to my girlfiend for her birthday. I started by painting the box green, then using Dreamweaver's stencil LJ901 (mosaic background) I covered the top using Adirondaack pigment inks in Juniper, Denim and Eggplant. I used a corner of paper from Seaside Retreat by Webster's pages which I torn and then adhered to the left side of the box using Golden Matte Medium. I also punched out some dictionary pages which I added in the same manner.
I then used Golden's Clear Tar Gel that I mixed with Metallic F/X - Kiwi to make sea grass in the lower right corner, to the sea grass I added three small shells. When this was dry I then taped stencil LM181 (seahorse) to the box and pasted with regular embossing paste. I decided to use the Faux Cloisonne technique for my seahorse, so after the paste was dry I repostioned my stecil over the image and pounced in pigment ink. While the ink was still wet I removed the stencil sprinkled the image with UTEE shook off the excess and heated the image with my heat gun. I repeated the process adding more color until I was happy with the way the color looked. Last I added metal element using stencil LM106 ( scallopped shell) with copper meal from Mercart that I ran through my Big Shot. I also added a trinket pin from the Tim Holtz collection with a piece of twine to which I added some beads and I finished with some tinted glass bubbles and Washi tape aroung the bottom of the box.

Colorway Challenge Dream Scheme Thursday

I know that the colorway challenge is craft, ivory and red. I had a problem this week I created a fun card for my girlfiends birthday in just such colors, took pictures of it to put on my blog this week then gave the card to her yesterday. Last night I went to do my blog and my computer won't boot up, nothing is on the screen, I will be taking it to the computer doctor today. So I'm posting this card today It has ivory and craft but no red. This card was done using the new cameo stencil (LL 3017). I pasted the cameo using glossy black paste, while the paste was still wet I sprinkled in some MEtallic F/X amber glow and moonstone, just a little aroung the edges of the hair and collar. I distressed with Tim Holtz Distress ink after the design was dry, the color I used was Tea Dye. The paper I used in the background was Steam Punk by Grapic45 which I layered onto a light craft cardstock layer and then onto a black card. Thursday Dream Scheme's - Free Challenge

This week is a free challenge for our dream team. I chose to use one of the new background stencils. The Houndstooth background stencil (LJ 913) I chose to use as both part of the background and also as the background on the fan. For the background I pasted with white glossy paste and sprinkled in Metallic F/X in Kiwi and Purple Satin. Then for the fan I rouged in the background houndstooth design in Eggplant (Adirondack Ink by Ranger)I also used the same color on the edge and spine for the fan. I used the Bamboo Stencil (LL 533) for the focal point on the design I rouged in Old Olive (Stampin UP) then I used Clear Embossing Ink and sprinkled the design with UTEE then heated the design with my heat gun. On a piece of Aubergine cardstock I pasted the chinese symbol for Sympathy (LS 53) in white glossy paste and used Metallic F/X Kiwi and Purple Satin. I layered the Aubergine rectangle on to olive green cardstock and cut the background with the chevron print to fit the rest of the card. I used green suede ribbon over the seam. Dream Scheme Thursday-sketch challenge

It's sketch challenge week, and I love do sketch challenges Not creating them but doing them. I believe that Deborah created this challenge. I love turquoise and teal type colors with green and so that is what I chose to use for this week. I used the morning glory crest stencil (LL 461) and the triangle weave background stencil( LJ 912). To do the morning glory I rouged in the following colors from Rangers Adirondack pads: Aqua, Pool and Stream starting with the lightest color, For the Leaves I used Stampin UP's Old Olive and then added some Stream in a couple of areas. I used Aqua to distress the edges of the circle. For the Background pieces I used Worldwin's Med Awesome Aqua cardstock and rouged in Adirondack Stream. The other two corners were printed cardstock from TPC Studios. After the color was in on the Morning Glory I pasted the image with Dreamweaver Translucent Paste.Please leave a comment on my blog and then go on over to see what the other team members have come up with this week. Dream Scheme Thursday-Free Challenge week

This is free challenge week and I'm using one of the new stencils introduced at CHA. The gear background was so perfect, I don't know why but I just love gears. Anyway this came in handy for me because my daughter's boyfriend is really into sprint trithalons and he just had a birthday. For this card I started out with pewter metal that I purchased through Dreamweaver. I used the Gears Stencil (LJ 911 ) this is one of the new background stencil. I cut the metal 41/2 by 5 3/4 then I ran it through my Big Shot to emboss it. I sanded it to give the gears a used look. Then I used Ranger Alcohol Inks for the background, the inks I used were

Meadow, Butterscotch and Expresso. I then used the bicycle stencil (LL 592) which I embossed with Gold Metallic Paste( DGP ) onto black cardstock. The papers I used for layering were gold metallic paper and antique gold metallic paper. This was a great card for a guy.

Dream Scheme Thursday-Monochromatic color challenge

I really loved this challenge, I started by going thru my usual stash of paper...then I remembered that I have this awesome stash of paper from Club Scrap that might be just what I was looking for. I really thought this paper was great because it was kind of a collage type background. I used the Bamboo Crest (LL 596) which I taped onto the paper centering it under the word synchronize. Using Mellow Moss ink from Stampin UP i rouged the ink onto the paper I then used a Jumbo dauber to cover the design with clear embossing ink ( Versamark) I removed the stencil and covered the design with UTEE and then heated with my heat gun. I repositioned the stencil back over the image and added more ink to darken the areas I wanted shading in. Again I used clear embossing ink over the image and removed the stencil this time using regular clear embossing powder over the image and heated that with my heat gun. To my monochromatic sage card I added a gingham ribbon and three Dots (Foliage By Hero Arts). this was such a fun card to do simple but I like the way it tuned out. This is my take on this week's challenge. I used the seashells border (LL 536 ) For the background I rouged in Adirondack shell pink and then I also distressed the edge of the paper. Next I used the Sand Dollar stencil I rouged in Adirondack Hazelnut and the pasted with Dreamweaver Translucent Paste, then sprinkled a little crystal glitter or the wet paste. I hand printed "Listen" in the corner. I added Hero Arts Dots in the upper left corner and bordered the card w/ Spica Atyou glitter pen - Sand. Thursday's Dream Scheme's- Free Challenge week

This card was one that I really enjoyed making, It was not my normal kind of card. I first started with a background paper that was already distressed and using the Lg. Cathedral Window stencil (LJ 808) pasted with regular embossing paste. I then used the Sm. Cathedral window stencil (LJ 909) over the vase (LM194 ) and using Tim Holtz Distress inks Stormy blue replecated the same pattern in the vase as in the background. I then pasted the vase with translucent paste and when it was dry I cut it out. I then layered the card, popping the vase off the nacy blue cardstock and added Prima flowers and Just the Edge (Bazzill) butterflies which I distressed again with the Stormy Blue. As most of you know I usually do bright simple cards so this monochromatic card was different for me. I will be doing some more in the future. DREAMWEAVER DREAM SCHEME THURSDAY

It is Thursday again and this weeks challenge is a colorway challenge...purple and yellow. I seem to be on a water theme this month, maybe because I love the beach. Here in Northern California the beach is a place you go to enjoy walking along the shoreline it's really to cold to swim in, unless your one of those crazy surfers who has a wet suit. But it is a place where I like to go to just realize that there is definately something far greater then I am who rules the world. Anyway I used the wave background (LJ 838 )and pasted my card with White Matte Paste. The card was from Hero Arts - Aubergine. I used a light yellow card stock for the word Summer (LM 294) To get the lighter to darker shade I started by rouging in Ranger Adirondack Lemonade and then towards the bottom I rouged in Butterscotch. I then Pasted the word with Dreamweaver Translucent Paste. When the background was dry I repositioned the stencil over the pasted image, pounced glue over the entire surface and using a paintbrush added Metallic F/X in Moonstone, Purple Satin and Sapphire. My husband and I just got home from a great concert " An Evening with America" it was really fabulous. It's hard to think of those guys as being 60 years old , they still got it. This week is a free challenge week. I learned about zentangling when the some of the design team came back from Arizona and started posting their cards. I love doodling so I decided th try one this week. I used the Dreamweaver boot stencil (LG660) and then started doodling in the outlined areas. Dreamweaver stencils are perfect for zentangling because they give areas to start creating in. I used a black copic multi liner #0.3 to do my doodling. Father's Day Dream Scheme

This week we have a sketch that you can see on the other dream team blogs,My computer has a tantrum every time I try to post a sketch. My dad has been gone a long time now but I am lucky to have married a man who is an extordinary father to our beautiful daughters. We both love the beach and so did my father so I really enjoyedthe way this card came out. I started b y pasting the wave (LL477 ) with Black Matte Paste, when dry I repostioned the stencil and lightly pounced on Stamp and Stick Glue by Pallette. Once I was done with this I used Metallic F/X Navajo Sky, Sapphire and Moonstone, which I brushed on with a paint brush. Then I layered on the rest of the card. As many of you know I really like to simple and easy cards. I hand wrote the saying in white ink. Well it is a beautiful morning in Northern California so I think I will get out and enjoy the cool fresh air before the afternoon heat is here. It's Thursday !!!

Well it's Thursday again and after last weeks fiasco of trying to get my blog posted, I decided I wouldn't wait until Thursday morning to post. About a week and a half ago, my friend Joy and I decided we would go on a road trip which would have us arriving at The Stamp Art Shoppe in Roseville, CA. just as Lynell was about to start her class on embossing metal using Dreamweaver stencils. Since I wasn't able to go the Anaheim for winter CHA because I broke my foot I really wanted to check out what she was doing. I also was able to meet Pam Hornschu who is also on the Dream Team it was really great to put a name and face together, plus she has the same kind of wacky sense of humor that I have. Anyway here's what I came up with this week. I started with lavender stardream metallic cardstock and made a gatefold card. My next artistic endevor was to see if I remembered how to emboss the metal by sending it thru my big shot...ok it worked, next I lightly sanded the embossed area. I used the peacock feather background stencil (LJ 840 ) and teal metal. After doing this I cut the background in half and put it on each side of the gatefold. Next I took the same lavender cardstock and pasted the single peakcock feather (LL 437) with Silver Metallic paste, I let it dry and then used Variegated Blue Gold Leafing. Dream Scheme Thursday

While the weather in the midwest and south has been down right scary with all the tornados, life here goes from being beatiful and spring like to rain. I ready for a little more spring and summer weather. Since Lynell chose to feature umbrellas this week, I am adding this to the mix. I really enjoyed this stencil, I decided to used my copic markers for this one and I was really happy with the result. I used two colors on each umbrella choosing a light color to base in the unbrella and then shading with one that was two or three shades darker. I then used the raindrop stencil and pasted over the top with translucent paste. This is a pretty simple card but I really like the way it turned out.

Today is a free theme day, which is great because this was a very busy week for me. I picked this card because I really love the new Raven stencil that was just released. I started by using a pale blue card stock. For this card I used iredescent paintsticks for the background along with my Picasso stencil to make the clouds. The iridescent paintsticks I used were turquoise and white. I then placed the stencil down and used Black Glossy Paste to paste the image. At the bottom I drew a triangle and filled it in with my black copic marker so that the weathervane looks like it is actually sitting on a roof. The saying was done on my computer. I layered the image and saying onto black cardstock and used black and white dotted ribbon from Creative Impressions to the corners and layered everything onto a pale gray card. Thursday's Drem Scheme

It's thursday one again and the challenge is orange and blue, Mother's Day. Orange and blue are two of my favorite colors and it was my turn to come up with a challlenge. So here's my latest creation that will be mailed tomorrow to my MOM.

To start I used a piece of white card stock, I then mixed a small amount of matte orange paste to regular paste to get a nice apricot color. Then I pasted the image using the Hibiscus Stencil (LL 478). I let this dry and then repositioned the stencil over the dry image. Pounce glue over the entire image (Palette Stamp and Stick Glue Pad works the best for me) lightly.

Using a small paint brush I used Glacier Metallic F/X pulling the color from the inside out on the leaves. For the Hibiscus flower I used Kimono Red F/X in the center of the flower pulling from the inside out, then using Moonstone F/X i pulled the color lightly from the outside of the petals towards the center allowing some of the base color to show through. The center of the flower was done with Goldfinch F/X.

Dream Scheme Thursday

Wow it's Thursday already, I just woke up and realized that today is Thursday. I'm off a day somewhere, Oh well here is my creation for this week. This is the new stencil apron that Lynell just released this week I really think this stencil is fun. Can't you just see doing a kitchen themed bridal shower using this apron. This card was done by first stenciling with a light tan ink then using a shade darker ink using the faux cross stitch technique going over the lighter color. I then found a piece of paper with a small all over design and trace the stencil and did some paper piecing. I glue the apron onto a dark brown paper and cut out just leaving a small edge to make it pop. Imagine this done in the bride's colors or your favorite colors.

Thursday's Dream Scheme_ Sketch Challenge

Hi it's Dream Scheme Thursday and this week we have a shetch challenge from Lee Kellogg. My computer still doesn't want to grab the sketches but you will see the sketch on all the other design team blogs. Here is my creation. while all my fellow drem team members have been thinking about Easter, I have been thinking Man Cards, this is probably do to the fact that I have a class coming up that is entitled MAN Cards.
For this card I used the New Age Celtic stencil (LL380) and I pasted with Metallic Gold Paste.
When the paste was dry, I repostioned the stencil over the image and using the jumbo dauber and Palette Gluepad I stippled the entire image with the glue. I removed the stencil and heatedthe glue for about 30 second or until you can pick the paper up with two finger pressed against the image. If the glue is still to sticky heat a little longer. I then carefully placed a sheet of Variegated Green Leafing over the image and then using a gentle stippling motion and a 3/4 inch stencil brush stippled lightly over the image (you will be able to see the image as you stipple). after you get that done use a circular rouging motion to remove the excess leafing ( I always use a folded paper for file folder underneath so I can collect the extra leafing which I will use for other projects.) If you have an area that doesn't leaf reapeat the process.
Because I have an abundance of metallic paper I decided to use a torn paper technique for the bottom of the card. I added a cord and knot of waxy floss for an accent. Everything ecept the paper and waxy floss is available from Dreamweaver stencil. Dream Schemes Thursday: Color Challenge Teal and Yellow.

Today's challenge was to use teal and yellow, two of my favorite colors. I used pale yellow card stock to start. I decided to use the spider mum stencil(LJ 892) I really like this stencil and I don't use it enough. Using regular paste mixed with Goldfinch Metallic F/X I pasted the mums. Then when the paste was dry I repositioned the stencil and daubed Palette Stick and Stamp glue over the entire pasted image. Using Kiwi and Goldfinch I added the F/X lightly over the image to make it sparkle. The ribbon is teal flourish's from Creative Impressions. I layered the image onto teal cardstock and then onto the printed cardstock from Bo Bunny Press. Todays post is the beautiful Hydranga Stencil from Dreamweaver. This is one of my favorite stencils. Here I decided to use Black Matte Paste and when it was dry I repostioned the stencil back on, using the jumbo dauber I covered the entire pasted surface with the Palette Stamp and stick Glue. I then used Metallic F/X brushed on with a small paint brush. Here I used multiple colors of blue and for the leaves I used Kiwi and Goldfinch. Hi everyone...well as you can see my post today has nothing to do with St. Patrick's day although it is one of my favorites. I did how ever need to get a great card made for one of my brother -in-laws birthday. As many of you know a few weeks ago my blog showed my stenciling abilities on a cast that I have been wearing for almost three months, well I finally got rid of the encumberance lst Friday. Because I can now drive again I had about a millon errands to run. So I picked this card to show. I have this beautiful Stardream metallic paper that I used for the card and also the gold layer under the black cardstock with my stenciled image. For this card I decided to use the Moose (LG715) because my BIL loves to hunt. I first pasted the stencil with black matte paste, I love working black on black. Once this was dry I replaced the stencil back over my paste, then using the jumbo dauber and the Stamp and Stick glue pad added a light layer of glue over the pasted area. I them used my heat gun on the glued area about 30 seconds or until you can put 2 fingers on the glue and lift your card. I then added the red varigated gold leafing. Using the Happy Birthday stencil (LM 239) I decided to use Metallic Copper paste to bring out the coppery red colors in the leafing. I think my bother- in law will really enjoy this card.

It's Thursday Dream Schemes!

This week we have a colorway challenge, to use brown cream and blue for our card. I think these colors work well for men's cards and since Father's day is just around the corner....well here is what I came up with. I again used the stripe background stencil (LX7002) to make a plaid using Adirondacks Denim colorwash (this is becoming one of my favorite stencils)

While the background was drying I mixed some of the Cocoa Metallilc F/X into regular embossing paste the I pasted the running horses (LL559) onto cream card stock. When that was dry I distress the edges with Ranger distress inks, tea dye. I layered the horses onto to craft card stock and then onto to the Denim plaid background and then layered it all onto a craft card. I'm really sorry it didn't photograph as well as I would have liked it to. Don't forget to stop by the other dream team members blogs and leave a little love there. With all this rain, I'm hoping that spring is almost upon us. This week is a free challenge week and I decided to try my hand at the Faux Cross stitch technique, this is one of the techniques I've always wanted to do but never seemed to get around to doing. The stencil I used is the Iris (LL516), it is an older stencil but one that I use a lot. I laid down my stencil and taped on four sides then I brushed in a light color for the base of the flower and leaves. I removed 3 sides of the tape leaving my hinge in place and then slid the mesh (you can get this from Dreamweaver stencil also) under the stencil and then added darker color over the areas just based in to create the cross stitch effect. If you have looked at my blog before you notice that I often use tulle for my ribbons, I like tulle because it gives a soft look to the card and doesn't hide the design.
This card is simple and can be used for many different occasions.

Today's sketch can be seen on the other member's blogs, my computer is having issues this morning pulling the sketch over. Anyway this is my take on the sketch I started by using a navy blue card. My background was done by using the the new large striped stencil (LX7002) this is a great stencil to have because you can use it for a stripe background or a plaid background. For today's card I did a plaid background using Navy Blue and Meadow Green Paintsticks. I knew it would take me awhile to do the background so before I started I decided to paste the Celtic Knot (LL345) with metallic copper paste. It takes a while to dry so by the time I finished doing the background the paste was dry. I mounted the pasted Celtic Knot to a olive green layer. to the background layer I added green and blue ribbons and some little metallic dots. This card was simple and fun. Well today is another free challenge. As some of you know in December I broke my foot and this is the third cast I have been in. I decided for my dreamweaver challenge this week I would try my stencil on my cast. I used stencil LL478 Hibiscus and copic marker airbrushing. It was fun working with this medium but unfortunately it is hard to get a picture that did it justice. I have a doctor's appt. today I wonder what he'll think off my artwork. Anyway this just goes to show you that Dreamweaver stencils can be used anywhere so think out of the box and color out of the lines whenever you can. For today's dream team the challenge is a free them. I have had this paper from Reminiese for a very long time and found just the right use for this card. For this card it was really very simple, I used this new rooster stencil (LG732) and Glossy Black paste both from Dreamweaver Stencils.

Ilove the french country look using red white and black. I used several different papers all from the same line of paper, added a black and white polka dot bow and metal corners from Tim Holtz. It has become one of my favorite cards and was really very simple.

Hi everyone....While many of our design team members are covered with snow, those of us on the west coast have been enjoying spring like weather. You may be able to tell that spring was on my mind when it came to creating this card.

This weeks challenge was a color challenge using turquoise, brown, kraft and neutral. I started out by using a 6x6 teal card. I then used the new striped background stencil (LX7002) on kraft paper. To paste this I used regular paste mixed with Amber Glow metallic F/X and the new Embossing Paste spreader (LM2010) to apply the paste. After the paste was dry I adhered this background to the turquoise card.

Using the butterfly stencil (LM257) was the next step, I again mixed regular paste with Glacier Metallic F/X and pasted the butter fly on the turquoise cardstock. At this point since the butterfly needed to dry I took another piece of turquoise card stock and used both mixtures of paste to paste "Spring" (LM293). This was done by taking the Amber Glow mixture and starting in the middle pasting to the left edge, then overlapping the Glacier mixture slightly and pasting towards the right edge. By this time the butterfly was dry and I repositioned the stencil back onto the image and using the jumbo dauber pounced pallette glue lightly over the top. Using a small paint brush I pulled Glacier Metallic F/X from the center of the butterfly and then used Moonstone Mettalic F/X pulled from the edges.

To remove any excess powder I gently brush with a piece of Swiffer dust cloth. once everything was dry I cropped down the butterfly and layered it onto Kraft cardstock and the spring I just cropped down to a smaller size. I added ivory Tulle and a gold hatpin to complete the card.

Hi everyone, well it is Thursday again and I'm having trouble loading the sketch onto my blog.
For today's card I chose to do something simple, and will be using this in the class I will be teaching at Jazzy Crafts in Castsro Valley. I have had this paper for a while and I likeit because it has a kind of whimsical quality to it. The stencil I used for the the heart is LL567 by of course Dreamweaver stencils. I taped the stencil to ivory cardstock and rouged in Ranger distress ink, Spun Sugar, then around the edges I added Worn Lipstick. I punched the scallopped circle by using the Marvy scallop cirle punch (the large green one) , I then distressed the edges of t he circle by using the same colors of ink. I lateyed this beautiful ivory ribbon to black cardstock and then layered that to the card. I popped the circle w/heart off the card with mounting tape, after I had added the bling. Iwent around the heart with Stickles Frosted Lace Glitter glue and also added 3 rhinestones. I then stamped the forever friends (MSE) in the lower left corner.
This is a great but simple valentine for someone special in your life.

Hi everyone, sorry this is late getting posted, but I'm still hobbling around on crutches and this week I'm also trying to get 2 quilt stands painted. Today's challenge is a express yourself challenge. I used this great paper to start with it white but it has glass shards on it in a paisley background, I saw it and just had to use it for this card. I mounted the white paper on Gold cardstock. Next I used the Be MY Valentine stencil (LM 276) and the Tole heart (LL3010) on black cardstock. I pasted both with gold matallic paste, then when they were dry I repostioned the stencil and dabbed a little of the stamp amd glue pad on the sm hearts. I added crystal glitter to give a little piazzaz. I then added a tulle bow to the layered cardstock and then layered the Be MY Valentine to the white paper. I cut out the heart and adhered it to the card using mounting tape to pop it slightly off the card. I think this card is perfect for the man in your life. It could also be done as an anniversary card.

Well it's Thursday again and this weeks challenge is a free week so I decided to post a double layout that I did using dreamweaver stencils on my page. Ok so I love, love, love sea horses, they are so beautiful and graceful. My husband and youngest daughter and I went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium to see the Sea Horse exhibit while it was there and here is part of my layout. I started by choosing a beautiful teal paper for my base, then I cut a piece of white cardstock 6x12, this is the panel I did my images on. I distressed the edges of the white panel using Ranger distress inks, Bundled Sage and Tumbled Glass. Then I hand drew in reeds and rocks and colored them with copic markers. Next I used Black Matte Embossing Paste to stencil 3 of the sea horses (LM 181), let them dry.

I used metallic F/X to add color and shine to the sea horses. The Metallic F/X I used were: Glacier, Goldfinch,and Kiwi. I really loved this layout when I was finished, so don't be afraid to use your stencils and paste on some of your layouts, just imagine what you could do with those beach themed stencils. Once again it's time to think out of the box.

Oh My it's Thursday already! I been off work a couple days this week and lost track of my days. Here is my card for the Challenge this week, using the Glossy blue paste. I love the glossy blue paste it is such a rich color and worked great with the Snowflake stencil (LL 399). I pasted the stencil w ith glossy blue paste and them after taking off the stencil, I sprinkled in the following Mettalic F/X colors: Sapphire, Moonstone, Purple Satin and Glacier. After the glossy paste has dried (about 1-2 hours) I use a swiffer dust cloth to take away the excess powder then I gently rub the image using the same swiffer dust cloth. When you do this technique I think the most fun part is revealing what the F/X have produced. Each and everyone you do will turn out different. On the decorative paper I used behind the snowflake I pasted the flourish (LG 713) using regular embossing paste mixed with Sapphire Mettalic F/X. This was a very simple card to do with results I know my friends will be happy getting. Well now I'm off to decorate our perfect tree and then to work. Well it's Thursday again and time to post another Dreamweaver card to my blog. I chose the pinecone stencil ( LG675 ) because it can be done simply and elegantly. I use chocolate cream cardstock for the card and layered it with the beautiful damask paper from Doodlebug Designs. Using the Dreamweaver stencil mentioned above I stenciled the pinecones and needles with regular embossing paste mixed with a little bit of Cocoa Metallic F/X to turn it lt. brown I then sprinkled it with Glitter Ritz glitter, Sahara and Peridot. I love adding glitter to my cards and giving them some Piaazz! Check out the blogs of the rest of the Dream Team for more exciting works of art.

For my take on the this weeks sketch challenge, I used Dreamweaver stencil LL377 the Tulip and LM250 Merry Christmas. I also used glossy red and glossy green paste from Dreamweaver. My children informed me that tulips are not a Christmas flower, however for the past 10 years I have always had red tulips on my table for Christmas. I wanted to something simple but elegant and I had fun with this card. all of our designers have come up with something great so make sure you visit all of our blogs to get some great inspiration.

Ornament using Dreamweaver Stencils

I had a great day yesterday and hope you all had a great Thanksgiving as well. So today I decided to try this ornament I had in my head. I started by using my Nestabilities Heirloom Ornament and I cut out 3 of the largest ornament. Then using my Sm. Snowflake (LS 26) stencil I stenciled snowflakes on each of the 3 ornaments that I had cut out. After I had cut out the ornaments I used my Score-it to score each ornament down the middle (this really helps when you go to put the ornament together). To get the snowflakes to be lavender I used regular embossing paste and mixed in some purple satin Metallic F/X. Once the snowflakes were pasted I sprinkled some crystal glitter onto them. Then after the paste was dry I carefully put the ornament together.

Our challenge for this Thursday's Dream Scheme was to create a card using non traditional holiday colors. This was a great challenge for me because while I love red and green I also like to be different. To start my card I stenciled the flourish (LG713), onto my paper using Ranger

Distress ink, Dusty Concord. Then leaving the stencil in place I the used transclucent paste over the top. Next I stenciled the sm. snowflake (LS26) on white paper using regular embossing paste that was tinted with Metallic F/X Glacier Blue. I stenciled Season's Greetings (LS 91) using Momento Bahama Blue. I layered the patterned paper onto purple cardstock then using mounting tape I popped up the snowflakes that I punched with a circle punch. Hi everyone I haven't done a post in awhile. I have been busy making samples for my classes and getting ready to go to Croptoberfest. Had a great weekend with all the gals that went to Croptoberfest this weekend, even the rain didn't dampen our spirits. Made some cards, got some samples done and ate a lot. We no sooner got done with one meal, then it seemed like it was time for another. Camp Hammer is the best. I'll be posting classes and samples in the next few days.

For this card I started with white cardstock, I cut a circle mask for the moon, then using Ranger Ink Essentials Blending Foam I started rubbing in color using Adirondaks Cloudy Blue, Sailboat Blue, and Denim inks (in that order). Using the Picasso Stencil I added some clouds. When I finished that I removed the circle mask, and using Copic Markers (Y11 and Blender Pen) colored in the moon. I then stenciled Santa & Sleigh with Black Glossy Paste.

I started with the Snowflakes Stencil, Blending Foam, and Cloudy Blue, Sailboat Blue, and Denim starting with lightest color, move color into the background. After removing the stencil I added color around the edges using the darkest color. Taking the Winter Stencil, I taped it in the lower right corner of the card and pasted it with Blue Glossy Paste. Set this aside to dry. For the Snowflake Stencil I used Double Sided Mounting Paper. I started by rubbing the back of the stencil with Handmade Hawaiian Soap (this is done so when its time to remove the stencil it comes off easily and doesn't bend), placing it on the Double Sided Mounting Paper, I mounted on white cardstock, glitter the snowflake with Glitter Ritz Microfine Glitter Cool Highlights. Remove the stencil and glitter the background with Glitter Ritz Microfine Glitter Canadian Blue. Layer everything together and add your own bling!

I started with light Blue cardstock and the Bare Trees Stencil. I misted the card with Memory Mists Blueberry Milkshake, let it dry, then I added Memory Mist Iridescent Spray. After the background was dry I took the Horse & Sleigh Stencil, taped off half of the stencil and then used the other half to stencil onto the background with Black Glossy Paste. I let that dry and used the Merry Winter Stencil with White Embossing Paste. After taking off the stencil, I added crystal glitter. Layer card together and add some bling.

Mills Repco Make and Take

This is the make and take I did at the Mills Repco show. It was a lot of fun and I met I lot of nice people. I got a chance to meet Liz another Dream Team design member and spent some time with her. It ws really nice to connect a name with the face and cards. This card was pasted w/ matte black paste, the stencil was repositioned over the now dry image. Using a jumbo dauber and Pallette glue pad a light layer of glue was added to the black matte paste. Using the Metallic FX powders(Kiwi, Gold Finch,Kimono Red and Moondust) I brushed on the colors with a paint brush. I love this technique because it allows me to use the paste as a shading medium. Merry Christmas/Dreamweaver Design Team

This has to be one of my favorite cards. I love the tradition l colors of Christmas but I also love the retro direction some of the paper companies have taken.
BoBunny's new line Winter Joy caught my eye, Lime green, Teal, Purple and White I love it! This is another card I did with the glittering technique. I used the Striped Christmas Tree stencil (LM279) and double-sided mounting paper in the same manner as the previous card. This time I used the chartreuse glitter for the tree and lavender for the star and tree stand, then I punched it out with the Marvy Scalloped oval punch (green). I stenciled Merry Christmas (LS92)
in glossy white paste on the purple Bo Bunny paper. I layer the purple paper onto a white base card, adhere the glittered oval tree to the Bo Bunny paper then added a green bow.
Easy but fun and especially sparkly.

Christmas/Dreamweaver Design Team

This card was fun to do. Those of you who know me know that I love glitter and this is one of my favorite of Lynell's techniques. I chose a gold metallic cardstock for the base card because of the metallic gold elements of this S.E.I. paper that I found on one of my paper hunting trips. I started by using Dreamweaver double sided mounting paper and the Christmas stencil (LL3009) and natural vegetable soap. The soap is used on the back side of the stencil to make it easier to remove when you are done glittering. Once the stencil was placed on the double sided mounting paper used Chartreuse and Fire Red glitter to fill in the word and holly. I then gently removed the stencil by pulling the paper off the stencil. The background was then glittered with Cool Highlights glitter and adhered to an olive green panel and popped off the card.

For this card I started with white cardstock and the Holly Flourish Stencil (LG731)

and My Big Shot. After running the stencil through the Big Shot, I used Tin Holtz Distress inks (Ranger) to distress the card. Then I punched out a white scalloped oval and a larger oval using the Marvy scallopped oval punches (purple and green) I can never remember the giga, mega thing so I just remember the color. I then distressed the white oval using the same colors as I did on the holly flourish. I then used black glossy embossing paste to paste Season's Greetings (LS91) on the distressed oval. I added a gold ribbon and rhinestones to the card a little bling.

After receiving the design team materials from Dreamweaver Stencils, I started looking for papers and embellishments to start my cards. I found this beautiful paper from Graphic 45

that I knew I wanted to use in some way. Using the holly sprig stencil(LL3005),I used black matte paste and when it was dry I replaced the stencil over the image. I used Superior's Palette Glue Pad and a large dauber to sponge the adhesive over the paste, heated it for 30 seconds and then using variegated black leafing.

Sizzlin' Summer Paper Chase

Day 3 for my friend Colleen and I on our Sizzlin' Summer Paper Chase. It has been a great time visiting

all of these wonderful Scrapbook and Stamp stores. On day 1 we went to Jazzy Crafts, Pleasant Memories,

and Scrapbook Territory. Day 2 we were checking out, Scrapbook U, Memories Live On, Scrapbook Island,

Stamp On Over and Scrapbook Depot. Today we are off to Stamper's Corner and Scrap-N-Stamp in

Elk Grove. It has been a busy week for me getting ideas for our new Dreamweaver challenge and getting ready

to go to Rainbow Camp for the weekend. I will be posting my classes for the rest of August next week along with

pictures of samples. Gotta get going now off to Elk Grove.

Wow, what a weekend. I taught two classes this weekend at Scrapbook Territory they were really fun. In both classes I had a mom bring their child with them for an artistic sharing day. It was brought back to me, how kids just aren't afraid to jump in there and create. They are not afraid of color or making a mistake, they just create. I think some of the adults were just a little intimadated. Got together with some friends Saturday night and had fun eating, drinking a little wine and stamping cards. Well I got to do cards after I finished cutting my paper for class the next day. This week I'm actually teaching a Dreamweaver Stencil class so I off to start getting ready.

Faux Watercolors using Copic Markers

I have been busy working on samples for my classes hope to have them up by the end of the week. I also had an order for 10 cards that is also keeping me busy. I hope everyone had a fabulous 4th of July ours was pretty quiet here, my daughter has me hooked on the series The Tudors. So on the 4th we watched season 3, had a nice dinner and then went to watch the fireworks. I have some great classes coming up and I hope my students will find them fun. Looking forward to seeing all of you soon.

This is one of the samples I sent to Dreamweaver Stencils. The background was done using the petite fern stencil and rouging in Colorbox Chalk ,Warm Green and then Olive Pastel. I used the same stencil ,with double sided mounting paper in conjunction with Hawaiian Handmade Soap .

First coating the stencil on the back with the soap( this allows you to remove the stencil from the sticky paper with out bending it. ) Placing the stencil on the sticky paper you can now glitter the design, I used Glitter Ritz Micro Fine

Grasshopper and Cool Highlight. I punched the glittered paper using Marvy's scalloped rectangle punch and layered the the glittered piece to light green paper and popped it off the background.

Obviously I have never done this before. I am starting this blog so I can keep in touch with my students and also with the ladies of the Dreamweaver Design team. My name is Georgia Sommers and I live in the San Francisco Bay area. I was born, and still live in Castro Valley. I have a wonderful husband who is very supportive of my art habit and 2 daughters who enjoy doing there own kind of art. Right now I am teaching at 2 stores Jazzy Crafts in Castro Valley and Scrapbook Territoty in Berkley. I love creating beautiful cards and teaching others to do the same. If I'm addicted to rubber stamps I think everyone else should be,too. I was just selected to be on the Dreamweaver design team and I can't tell you how excited I am. I really have enjoyed our fist challenge and can't wait to do more.I will be posting some cards as soon as I can figure out how to do that. more to come....
